KEEPING UP WITH THE POLLS

Romney's National Lead Down to 10 Points

Mitt Romney's lead in national GOP preferences is down to 10 percentage points, 30% to 20%, over Newt Gingrich. Romney led Gingrich by 23 points at the beginning of the week.

Democrats would be the most satisfied

Though Obama generates much stronger opinion overall

Romney's score unchanged after Iowa, New Hampshire

Romney is up 13 points since just before Iowa caucuses

January indicators mostly align with losing incumbents, but there is still time for improvement

Only Romney now seen as acceptable by majority of Republicans
